Copyright Policy
LostPlacesIndex respects intellectual property rights and expects its users to do the same. All user-submitted content must be original work owned by the submitter, or content for which the submitter has obtained appropriate rights or licences.
DMCA Takedown Notices
If you believe that content on LostPlacesIndex infringes your copyright, you may submit a DMCA takedown notice. Your notice must include:
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or authorised agent
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed
- Identification of the infringing material and its location on the Site
- Your contact information (name, address, telephone, email)
- A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use is not authorised
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and you are authorised to act
Submit takedown notices via the Report Centre.
Counter-Notices
If you believe your content was removed in error, you may submit a counter-notice. Counter-notices must include your contact information, identification of the removed content, a statement under penalty of perjury that the removal was a mistake, and your consent to jurisdiction.
Repeat Infringers
LostPlacesIndex will terminate the accounts of users who are found to be repeat infringers of intellectual property rights.
Fair Use
We acknowledge that some uses of copyrighted material may qualify as fair use for purposes of commentary, criticism, education, or historical documentation. We evaluate fair use claims on a case-by-case basis.
